Amanda

When I first moved to Virginia in 2018, I wanted to do something that was just “for me” to ground me in the chaos of being in a new environment where I did not know anyone. Running gave me that grounding, helped me form friendships, and allowed me to explore the areas I was living in much faster than I would have otherwise!

The Os1st socks! I’ve saved myself from countless blisters and burns on my long runs since switching to them.

One City half marathon is my favorite thus far. I love the entire weekend, but the route that One City half follows is perfectly scenic, and captures all the best the city has to offer.

To finish my first marathon at One City, and help my wife get comfortable running 10ks so we can run more races together!

Bobby

I have been running since I was a teenager. I ran with my kids at Cross country and track and field. When Debbie started to run, we ran together. Been running ever since.

Vuori, fits great and feels good.

Chick-fil-A 5Kand I loved the new Fiends frenzy 5K at Bush.

Christina

I started really running a little over two years ago to become a healthier version of myself and fell in love with the sport .I love to share my enthusiasm with others and invite new people to try the sport.

I love the TIFOSI sunglasses, wear them all the time not just on runs.

They are all so fun and different in their own way but I love the Chick-fil-A 5k/10k. It’s such a fun way to kick off the summer with family and friends.

I would love to complete the 2026 One city half or full marathon, the Rock N Roll St Jude Half in DC in 2026 and join a relay team to complete my first relay event.

Clarence

I have had an off and on running journey over the last 8ish years. I just “recently” took it more seriously last fall. I fell in love with running because of the challenge it presented to me every time that I laced up my shoes. Once I found the supportive and energetic community that came with it, I decided to dedicated even more time and effort to make it enjoyable. I found that it allows me to chase the best version of myself because with each milestone I began to reach I would build on to my confidence and resilience to doing hard things. It’s also the one thing that I can do to drown out the many noises of life and spend time with myself.

Currently, it’s shoes, shoes, and more shoes!!!!!! As I’m maturing in my running journey, I’ve become more aware of the importance of having options for every type of run.

Chick-Fila 5k/10k because of the free chicken sandwiches 🙂

My current running goals for the next 12 months are to run my first half marathon and marathon. I also want to travel to different cities to run their big races and meet more fellow runners. I would like to get my 1-mile time under 7 minutes. I plan to achieve this by incorporating speed work, such as tempo runs and interval training, into my weekly plan. This personal best is important to me because it represents a new level of discipline and dedication to my training.

Clark

I started running in high school, when I found out that I liked running track and field more than soccer. I didn’t know much about running, so I didn’t make much progress in high school. I took a few years off running in college. A friend invited me to their Ragnar team, which rekindled my love of running. As I trained more, I got faster, and I liked running more. It’s been a virtuous cycle ever since.

The Brooks Hyperion. It’s a great all-around shoe. I can use for long runs and speed work.

The Chick-Fil-A 10k is an amazing family event. My kids love the warmup with the cows. The post-race party also has so much for kids to do.

– Volunteer every month with a focus on building the running community
– Break a 2:40 in the marathon
– PR in three race distances

Faith

I started running my senior year of high school when I joined the track team because it was the only no-cut spring sport…even though I had never liked running. I ended up falling in love with sprinting and running in general but got away from it over my college years. In spring of 2023, I wanted to start getting active again post-pandemic and decided to try running again – I ran my first half marathon (One City) in 2024 and am currently training for my first full marathon. Running is now one of my best methods of stress relief and a way to remind myself that I can do hard things and accomplish whatever I set my mind to.

Altra shoes because I love the zero/low drop and the wide toe boxes!

Definitely Glowing Gobbler! I’m a huge Christmas light person, and running through the Celebration in Lights is such a cool experience.

To run my first full marathon (Richmond)! And maybe work on improving my 5K time after that.

Ira

Started running in 2008 after I quit smoking. Ran my first race in 2009. Running completely changed my life.

Chick-fil-A 5K. I like watching the kids race. They are so intense.

Work on my 5K times. Get more people interested in running.

Jacob

I grew up watching my parents run, and seeing finish pics of my dad crossing the Peachtree Road Race finish line, so running has been pretty close at home. I ran my first 5k at the Hilton Hustle when I was around 10 years, and was hooked from that race on. Fast-forward high school cross country, track, and an extended break, I dove into running again during 2020 as a way to challenge and grow myself, and enjoy distances from the 5K to marathon, along with the social nature of run clubs today!

My favorite product at Point 2 is all of the nutrition; it’s a small mention, but the fact that I can walk into a store less than 10 minutes from home, grab my preferred fuel (Huma!), and not wait for shipping is excellent. The shoe selection in store is also great, and all Brooks shoes that Point 2 carries are fantastic.

One City Marathon and Chick-fil-A 5K are a close tie, but my favorite race is the One City Marathon. I’ve PR’d there 2x, and the event is so well managed and a great celebration of the city and runners’ accomplishments!

I’m scoping out a BQ, which I was 2+ minutes shy of at One City in 2025, and looking at increasing the number of races I do in a calendar year. I’d also like to travel for a marathon, and have some destinations like Maryland, Ohio, & Pennsylvania in mind before I look at running a Major in 2027.

Jennifer

I started running in 2004 after my mother was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My daughter was 3 years old and I really wanted to be a better influence for her so one I I strapped on my 6 year old leather Nike cross trainers and ran down the road! I didn’t die so I kept doing it and have not stopped since!

I love the selection of shoes and the help from the associates. They are very knowledgeable and helpful with the unusual needs for my feet!

I was going to say the One City races but I really love the Glowing Gobbler! What a great way to kick off the holiday season?

I have slowly been checking off states to run. This year, I checked three new states and hope to check at least that many next year!

Kolbi

I started around 2008 just because. I found the competition against myself to be a helpful for my mental health.

Brooks running shoes. I started with Brooks in 2008. I’ve gone with other brands but have never found better and always end up back to Brooks.

Chill in the Mills because I like running off road.

I plan to do a few 5ks but I will be doing a Marathon Ruck called Tough Ruck with the Boston Marathon next April.

Lea

I started running about a half year ago because I wanted to prove to myself I can do hard things. I since found I love it.

I love the shoes they help with running! I also really love the sprints hats that they sell they are one of my favorites!

My favorite event has to be the Chick-fil-A 5K/ 10k I love the family environment! The event is so fun and I love that I got to do it with my family.

My main goal is to continue to show up and keep running. My big goal is to run at a 5k the whole time.

Linda

I started running in 2015 for my first half marathon. I found it not only helped me physically but also my mental health. I was able to meet so many amazing friends and support along my running journey.

Point 2 is my go to place for nutrition and shoes!

My favorite Flat outs event is a toss up between the Noland trail relay because of course pirates 🏴‍☠️ and the glowing gobbler!

My running goals are to become more consistent in my training as I am signed up for Marine Corps Marathon.

Marnie

I’ve been running off and on for about 20 years. I started as a thing to do with friends which became a love. I’ve had some injuries that kept me down for about 11/2 years, but I found my love again. I love the running community because it’s so welcoming and not everyone is focused on times, but the journey.

I love Sprints hats and Brooks shoes! The hats are lightweight and super comfortable! They have so many patterns and colors, they’ll match practically everything! Brooks shoes have been the shoe that has fit me best coming off of injury. They have the right support and are comfortable.

Chick-Fil-A 10k. It’s a fun course. I love the views of the James River. Plus the out and back I get to see all the participants having fun.

Increase mileage safely and enjoy the ride!

Megan

I’ve been at it since the summer before I started high school. It’s a great way to meet new friends, stay in shape, and test your limits!

I love the Sprints hats. They are so perfect for running and I love the prints! I wear them every day.

The Noland 50k and relay. Who doesn’t want to spend all day on the beautiful Noland Trail?

Staying off the “injured runner” list! I’m also hoping to bring my 10k time down.

Ryan

I have been an active runner since 2010 when a buddy of mine was training for a marathon and asked me to tag along one day…I got hooked. It is an activity I can do anywhere, at any time, and is a great stress reliever! I enjoy being outside and staying active. I have one marathon under my belt (Rock’n Roll Marathon in Washington D.C.), several half-marathons, and numerous shorter races.

I absolutely love the T-Shirts! They are great quality, fit well, and are really soft!

I really enjoy the holiday themed runs! My family and I have run in the Glowing Gobbler and Christmas Town Dash for years. There is just something special and the atmosphere is always warm, even when it is freezing, when people get together to celebrate the holiday season.

I would really like to train for another marathon! My goal is to start building my 10k+ endurance while remaining injury free.

Rusheene

I am originally from Norfolk England. Retired Military Spouse and mother. I started running when Covid hit, but only starting running races the end of last summer when I joined Point 2 & Flat Out group runs. Which I found it to be a great way to meet new friends and to feel part of the community.

Brooks shoes mainly Brooks ghost. I love the quality cushion while running. I’ve tried other shoes but I seem to always fall back to Brooks ghost.

I would say One City 5K and Half Marathon. Very well organized event, amazing community and support this March was my very first half which was a fantastic fun race

My goal for the next 12 months is my first full marathon at Philadelphia. I’ve started my training with the help and support of my new friends. Other than that my goals are to have fun meet new people who also enjoy the love of running.

Tara

I started running in 2012. I was in my 40s and had never really been active, but with a family history of obesity and poor heart health, I decided it was time to flip the script!

I’m a sucker for running hats, so the Sprints are a fave! So many fun options!

I love Christmas Town Dash – it’s so much fun to run through Busch Gardens, high five the Marines, and support Toys for Tots.

I’m finally back to finding joy in my running, so my goal is just to continue to do that.

Angela

Running began simply as a way to lose weight, but quickly became a community that I couldn’t live without. The people I’ve met keep me grounded and moving forward. And it all started with a shoe fitting and gait analysis at Point 2.

There are so many favorites, but the one thing I buy monthly is a tub of Huma electrolyte powder – usually coconut pineapple. It is low calorie with a great flavor and just the right amount of electrolytes.

Christmas Town Dash 8k is my favorite – hot cocoa, festive music, the scent of pine trees inside Busch Gardens and some tickets to use after the race. It is such a great start of the December holiday season.

There are so many miles planned. I’ve got several marathons on the schedule along with some timed races. The goal is always to get them done gracefully without injury and if I set a PR in there, then that is awesome.

Brandon

Found running in my 30s (after some medical challenges in my 20s) as a way of proving I could overcome adversity and providing a goal to work toward. Now in my 40s I still love to compete but I also love running with others to help them achieve their goals!

Feetures!!!! Best feet fit,
Rabbit and Vuori apparel
LMNT for hydration, powder and cans!

Love the shamrock events, fast flat course and great time of year for weather and winter training.

Crawling crab half, wicked 10k. Big goals are 50 race miles and more shorter distances, want to do more events with my kids!

Clay

I started running about 4 years ago to try and be in a little better shape to keep up with my son as he grew. I’ve come a long was since dying through that first shamrock 8k and plan to continue to stretch the miles out.

Don’t think I can narrow it down to one favorite. Too much good stuff.

Shamrock half
The 8k was my first race and the last couple half marathons have been great.

Finish the JFK 50 miler without dying.

Dannalynn

I’ve been running for over 13 years. What started as a way to lose weight for my wedding quickly turned into a lifelong passion. Running has carried me through every season of life—through pregnancies, deployments, PCSing, and parenting. I’ve run while pushing a stroller (from single to double and back again), and now with my older kids biking beside me.

Running has given me more than fitness—it’s brought me community, lifelong friendships, and moments of peace and strength through both joyful and challenging times. I started with the goal of completing a 5K, and since then, I’ve checked off 5Ks, 8Ks, 10Ks, 15Ks, 10-milers, half marathons, full marathons, and recently, my first 50K. I love the challenge, the growth, and the people it continues to bring into my life.

I have many favorites, but the Currex inserts stand out as the product that truly sold me on the store. The personalized evaluation and expert guidance from Michelle helped me get fitted with the right inserts, and I genuinely believe they played a big role in easing my plantar fasciitis over the past two years. They became a key tool in my recovery and have been a game-changer in my running journey.

The Marine Corps Marathon is hands down my favorite race. I’ve run it every year since 2019, and it never fails to inspire me. I’ve been running marathons since 2017 and am currently up to 11—and Marine Corps continues to stand out. Between the historic scenery, the beautiful course, and the nonstop support from spectators, it’s truly unforgettable. During a marathon, the mental challenge can be just as tough as the physical, and this race makes you feel like you’re never alone. Just when you hit a wall, someone is there cheering you on. That constant encouragement, along with the honor of running through such a meaningful course, makes crossing the finish line feel like an incredible accomplishment every time.

Ever since my injury in 2019, just being able to run pain-free has remained a goal I never take for granted. Each year, I try to challenge myself with something new—whether that’s a new distance, a new race location, or simply pushing past a previous limit. I love the feeling of going further than I’ve gone before.

Right now, I’m training for the Grindstone 50K and my biggest goal is to finish strong. After that, I’d love to return to the Seashore 50K—my first ultra last year—and set a new PR. I’m also working on increasing my weekly mileage and building a stronger base, aiming to raise it by 10% or more and maintain that consistently over time.

Dannette

I started running back in 2014. I had joined the navy, was at A-Schoool and was going through a lot. I was missing family, adjusting to a new way of life. So I registered for a half marathon and thought “how hard could it be?” Fast forward to 10 years later- and I’m so thankful & greatful for that crazy idea! It has helped me and my family adjust wherever we have been stationed! 3 deployments, 1 kiddo and lots of ups and downs of life- running still helps & it’s a big part of who I am.

My favorite product would be Brooks GTS shoes!! Always have a few pair in my arsenal for training! A close second would be Sprints hats! They are perfect for any run, easy to clean and so fun. Finally GOODR sunglasses- don’t leave home without them!!

My favorite race is the half marathon!! It’s a great distance to really challenge your body without destroying it! You get done and are full of so much pride and joy and still have enough strength to CELEBRATE!!

My running goals for the next 12 months would be- PR some shorter distances like 1 mile, 5K and maybe 10k. This fall husband and I will be tackling our first marathon in Omaha Ne!!! We can’t wait. Most of all stay healthy & injury free through it all.

Frank

I started running in June 2022 as a part of a weight loss and fitness journey.

I love Huma gels. They have the best flavor and texture.

While the Wicked 5k was my first race, I prefer the 10k. It has the same vibe, but you get more festivities.

To complete my first full marathon (MCM) and the coastal half marathon challenge.

James

I ran in the Navy but I started taking running seriously in 2021, prior to my retirement from active-duty. I started running as a method of therapy, as I have suffered from mental health issues for a long time

I love all Point 2’s products, but Point 2 is my go-to place for race fuel! It is the first place that put me on to Tailwind Endurance Fuel, which have been huge in my race training. I love it!

So far, my favorite race has been the Marine Corps Marathon! Being a veteran, it felt good to run that race and ponder on those brother and sisters in arms that sacrificed so that we could all have freedom!

To run the Richmond Marathon, and to run the Virginia Capital Trail!

Jeff

Over the years, I had become less active, more lethargic, and increasingly unhealthy. In 2020, the additional stress and weight gained from dealing with the Covid pandemic and shutdowns pushed me to a breaking point. I made some lifestyle changes to incorporate healthier eating and regular exercise. I started participating in a local run club and quickly fell in love with running and the run community. I completed my first half marathon in March of 2021, and my first 100 miler in May of 2022. I enjoy the accomplished feeling of running hard for a half-marathon. But, if given the choice, I would rather run far than run fast.

Aside from the great shoes, comfy running apparel, and excellent customer service, I really enjoy using my Sprints car seat towel to keep my ride dry after a run, and love my Flip Belt that houses my car key, phone, and waist lamp during my runs.

Christmas Town Dash 8k – you get to have all the fun and run the race AND get vouchers for park admission at a later date.

Continue to gain fitness and attempt to break some lifetime running PR’s for various distances.

Katie

I started running in high school when I discovered I didn’t have the coordination for any other sport. During college I competed in cross country and track where my main events were the 5k and 10k (Covid killed that prematurely, RIP). Flash forward to now and my favorite distances are the half and full marathon. I love spending my Saturday mornings with the Kempsville Run Club where I have met some pretty great friends.

I’m a sucker for Brooks Ghost and Glycerins. I like to switch back and forth between them during my training.

Within Hampton Roads my favorite race is probably the One City half. I love a good point-to-point race.

I feel stronger and train smarter now than I ever have. My goals are to keep showing up and keep putting in the work.

Kendall

I got back into routine walking in the spring/summer of 2022. By the end of the summer, I began incorporating running. I never imagined that I would ever be a runner, so y
My journey has transformed from being about improving my fitness to striving to improve and accomplish my goals.

Brooks running shoes (I purchased my first ever pair at Point 2!); I also love Point 2 apparel because of the great quality and because it allows me to promote an awesome local business!

Big Blue 5K at Old Dominion University

My goals are to continue working on consistency and being able to run further and eventually, faster. I will also run my first 8K in November, which will be my longest race distance to date!

Kevin

I enjoy running for the solitude and calmness it brings and the people you meet and get to know. My best thinking is done when my mind gets lost during a run. It doesn’t matter whether it’s short, long, trail, road, or a race. A run is often the best way for me to work through problems. Or to spend time with family (Wendy and our two grown kids) and friends. The people I have shared miles with know me better than those I only know through my work as a Navy Civilian or some other organization. In addition to being an Ambassador for Point 2 Running Company, I am involved with the Tidewater Striders and run with the Kempsville Run Club. It was great to see all the running clubs that have blossomed as folks sought an escape and sense of community during COVID. I now find myself enjoying conversations with new runners about all the great opportunities that are in the local running community. So many races, so many clubs, so many chances to meet new runners. In short runners are awesome and often willing to share a post run beer.

Virginia

I started running in 2016 with my husband at a weekly run club. I was frequently one of the last runners to come in, but I never gave up! I signed up for a half-marathon with very little training that same year, and I’ve been hooked ever since! I now have 3 boys, and now running is the thing I do just for me and to prove to myself I can still do hard things!

Feetures socks! Having the right socks is make or break (aka a smooth run or blisters). Feetures offer the perfect amount of compression for me.

My favorite race of all time is the St. Jude half marathon in Memphis. I love fundraising for the kids! Locally, I love the CFA 5k. Who doesn’t love a chicken biscuit at the finish line?!

My goal is to run a sub-5 hour marathon at Chicago! I also want to do an ultramarathon at some point. We’ll see if it’s in the cards for this year!

Wendy

I began running in high school as a sprinter. Once around the track was far enough for me. That didn’t last long though. I was soon recruited for the Cross Country team. I have been running ever since. My favorite place to run is on a trail, especially along the water. I enjoy long runs with friends which help the miles fly by. I also enjoy the competition at our local races and meeting other runners.

It’s actually a favorite brand. I love Rabbit apparel!

Surf N Santa is one of my favorite races. I love that it’s in the evening and through the lights.

Run shorter races and not over do it. Work on strength and mobility.
